Description
the silver embodies the allure of modern desires— gleaming, reflective, and weighty. this piece interrogates how individuals internalise the overwhelming nature of external forces, grappling with the constant pressure to consume, both physically and emotionally. the sphere represents the external world, reduced to an object of desire, yet its placement in such an intimate space—the mouth—questions the act of taking in more than one can hold. this work contemplates the boundaries between need and excess, suggesting that in a world driven by consumption, the line between fulfilment and burden blurs. in ‘sphera’, the act of holding the world is neither celebrated nor condemned, but examined. the viewer is invited to consider the consequences of endless consumption, where desire itself becomes something difficult to manage, almost suffocating. the piece distills the complexities of modern life into a singular, focused meditation on how much of the world we truly consume—willingly or not – francisco salmeron.
